5 Learning Objectives

While there are  many abstract nuances in the exploration of paradox psychology, the focus here is provide a theoretical anchor that allows us to organize our discussion.  The intent here is to show that these abstact nuances can be supported by understanding the simple mechanics of orbits-gravity theory.

With the focus on orbits-gravity phenomena, the following are 5 learning objectives to help clarify our understanding of paradox psychology:

1. Orbits-Gravity Theory - To advance our general knowledge of an orbits-gravity model and howthis relates to psychological phenomena.

2. Change - Clarify the concept of free-will personality ‘change.’

3. Unified Approach  - This model unifies the separate aspects of behavioral, cognitive, and psychodynamic orientations under single umbrella theory.

4. Paradoxical Interventions - The model offers a clear direction when working with treatment-resistant clients. In particular it resolves the mystery as to the mechanism driving the counter-intuitive nature of paradoxical interventions and its success when working with ‘hard to treat’ populations.

5. Strategic - The model reveals the strategy and logic of focusing on secondary (seemingly unrelated) non-criminogenic behaviors as a way to impact hard-to-reach ‘primary targeted’ (potentially criminogenic) behaviors; i.e: problem sexual behavior, violence, etc.

*Conclusion - This work advances the premise that the essence of human existence is based on free-will expression. Due to man’s exponential nature human psychology is best understood within a non-linear framework.

Within this view personality functioning is recognized as a ‘gestalt’ of behavioral, cognitive, and emotional factors - where the ‘whole is greater than the sum’ of these factors. It is through a non-linear model that we are able to organize a platform that provides insight into the infinite nature of human functioning and the counter-intuitive aspects of treatment.

It is hoped that clinicians and those committed to understanding human psychology will critically review this work and submit comments or questions to: ParadoxDoc@gmail.com
